Frequently Asked Questions

We don't mind spelling it out
Am I going to get a bunch of extra charges and “repairs” that I never even knew about?

No.  Your monthly charges cover all services provided in the package.  This even includes chemicals.  The only extra charges you should expect is an annual conditioner charge and filter cleans 3-4 times a year if you choose to hire us for that service.  We do not believe in giving you an unpredictable bill every month.  Also, we will never do a repair unless we receive approval from you after notifying you of the issue and giving you a quote.

Do you service “Salt” pools?

Yes, we have a lot of knowledge on “salt” pools and roughly a quarter of our accounts use salt technology.

Do you guys just come whenever you want like a lot of pool guys?

No, when we begin service we will schedule you for a fixed day and you can always expect us to come service your pool on that day during daylight hours.  If there are any issues, we will contact you ahead of time and if we need to change your day, you will be notified.

Do I need an acid wash? Won’t it ruin my plaster?

Acid washes can help to remove stains and give a renewed look to your pools plaster.  The way it does this is by removing a thin layer of plaster from the pool that is dirty and ruined to reveal a fresher unstained piece of plaster.  With older plaster this can slightly speed up the deterioration process, but we use custom solutions to ensure the life of your plaster is as long as possible.

Do you ever come out on a different day to help get the pool ready for a party or family get-together?

Absolutely.  Our job is to make sure that your pool looks great when you are ready to use it.  As long as we have advanced notice, we will do all we can to make sure your pool gets serviced when you desire to prepare for a party or family get-together.  And the good news it that we won’t even charge you extra.  We will just perform that visit instead of your other scheduled weekly maintenance.

How often do I need to get my filter cleaned?

That is a similar answer to how often you need to get your oil changed: it depends.  It depends on the amount of buildup in your filter.  If there are heavy winds, rain, or a fire, this buildup can happen fast.  When a filter is dirty the circulation of the pool greatly decreases which means the chemicals are not equally distributed.  This can lead to algae and other issues.  The pressure gauge should be between 15 and 21.  Generally speaking filters need to be cleaned 3-4 times per year.  We only clean your filter when it needs it, not because we are short on cash.

How many hours per day should I run my pool?

A: for a normal sized residential pool, we recommend running your pool for 4-6 hours during the winter and 6-8 hours during the summer.

Why do I need a mastic job?

A: Mastic jobs are needed when the existing mastic is cracked and broken leaving holes around the deck.  this can be dangerous for the pool because if it rains enough, the pressure on the outside of the shell can lead to damage.  Plus, it just looks bad!
